PHILADELPHIA, USA (Worthy News)– While participating in a Halloween parade dressed as “Zombie Muhammad,” the Pennsylvania State Director of American Atheists was assaulted by a Muslim male. Although the attack was videotaped and witnessed by police, the charges were dismissed by Judge Mark Martin.
An immigrant, the Muslim defendant claimed he didn’t know that it was legal in the U.S. to represent the Prophet Muhammad in any form, or that violently defending his “prophet” was illegal.
However, before Judge Martin, who is also a Muslim, dismissed the case, he lectured plaintiff Ernest Perce about Islam.
“Islam is not just a religion, it’s their culture, their culture. It’s their very essence their very being … what you have done is you have completely trashed their essence, their being. They find it very, very, very offensive. I’m a Muslim, I find it offensive. But you have that right, but you’re way outside your boundaries, or first amendment rights …”
Martin also said: “In many Arabic speaking countries, something like this is definitely against the law there. In their society, in fact, it can be punishable by death and it frequently is in their society.”
Of course, dressing up as a “zombie” Muhammad is not against the law here in American society, let alone punishable by death in most English speaking nations.
In his verdict, not only did Judge Martin ignore video evidence of the defendant’s guilt, but the testimony of a police officer on the scene, which Martin dismissed by ruling that the officer didn’t give an accurate account of the incident.
