(Worthy News) – At least six nuclear-capable B-2 Spirit stealth bombers have been seen at Camp Thunder Bay on Diego Garcia, a remote joint U.S.-U.K. base in the Indian Ocean, according to satellite imagery analyzed on Wednesday by the Associated Press.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a buildup of American military assets in the Middle East, the Pentagon announced Tuesday. The move includes the deployment of additional warplanes to the region as the U.S. bombing campaign in Yemen enters its third week and tensions with Iran continue to escalate. However, the Pentagon did not disclose the specific types of aircraft involved or their exact destinations, citing operational security concerns.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell emphasized the U.S. commitment to protecting its forces in the region, stating, “Should Iran or its proxies threaten American personnel and interests in the region, the United States will take decisive action to defend our people.”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air force commander, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, threatened to target 50,000 American troops in the region earlier this week, stating: “The Americans have at least 10 bases in the region, around Iran, with more than 50,000 troops – this means they are sitting in a glass house. Someone sitting in a glass house does not throw stones at others.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei issued a warning on Monday, pledging retaliation for any potential U.S. actions. “The Zionist entity and the Americans will suffer a severe and powerful blow if they take any hostile action,” Khamenei declared during a speech marking the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

The Diego Garcia base hosts B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit, and B-52 Stratofortress bombers, making it a key hub for operations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. It also houses around 4,000 military personnel and contractors, most of them American.

While B-2 bombers have been used against Houthi targets in Yemen, experts say their deployment is excessive, as the targets aren’t deeply buried. The stealth aircraft, however, is capable of carrying the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator — a weapon designed for heavily fortified sites, such as Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Earlier today, Worthy News reported Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that any U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities would have “catastrophic” consequences for the entire region, responding to former President Donald Trump’s threat to Iran of “bombing the likes they have never seen before.”
