(Worthy News) – In his first address to Congress since returning to office, President Trump highlighted his accomplishments and outlined key priorities, including border security, stopping what he called the “invasion of America,” opposing transgender ideology, tightening immigration laws, eliminating government diversity programs, cutting bureaucracy, and strengthening the military.
“I return to this chamber tonight to report that America’s momentum is back, our spirit is back, our pride is back, our confidence is back,” Trump declared in his State of the Union address.
“The golden age of America has only just begun, it will be like nothing that has ever been seen before,” Trump said, as Republicans responded with raucous applause and multiple standing ovations, while Democrats remained seated, refusing to join in the President’s vision for America.
Trump touted his administration’s achievements, boasting of signing scores of executive orders and declaring his first month in office the most successful in history.
“The people elected me to do the job, and I am doing it,” Trump declared, accusing Biden of enabling government prosecutions against him—cases that collapsed as he reclaimed power. “How did that work out?” he asked. “Not too good.”
Democrats wasted no time heckling Trump, interrupting his speech with boos and forcing a brief pause. “You have no mandate,” shouted Rep. Al Green (D-TX) as other Democrats held up signs reading “false” and “lie after lie.”
Seven minutes in, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was escorted out after shouting at Trump, briefly interrupting the speech. Green later told reporters the outburst was “worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to the president.
“I look at the Democrats in front of me and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy,” he said, as Democratic lawmakers held signs reading “False” and “Musk steals” throughout Trump’s address to the nation.
During his speech, Trump announced that 13-year-old DJ Daniel, who has battled brain cancer and dreamed of becoming a police officer, was made an honorary member of the Secret Service. Commentators noted that Democrats remained seated, refusing to stand and honor the young boy.
Trump praised Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency for shaking up Washington with job cuts. “He didn’t need this,” he said of Musk, who, dressed in a suit instead of his usual T-shirt and MAGA hat, saluted from the audience as Trump highlighted examples of wasteful federal spending.
Near the end of his address, President Trump pledged to advance space exploration, aligning with Elon Musk’s long-held ambition. “We are going to lead humanity into space and plant the American flag on the planet Mars, and even far beyond,” he declared. While Musk’s SpaceX has long aimed for Mars, U.S. efforts have largely focused on returning to the moon.
Trump highlighted his actions to roll back Biden-era policies on gender identity and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
“Our country will be woke no longer,” he declared. “We believe that whether you are a doctor, an accountant, a lawyer, or an air traffic controller, you should be hired and promoted based on skill and competence, not race or gender,” Trump stated.
Trump shared a simple yet powerful message to America’s children during his address to Congress: “You are perfect exactly the way God made you.”
“We have removed the poison of critical race theory from our public schools, and I signed an order making it the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” Trump stated. He then highlighted his executive order banning biological men from competing in women’s sports.
Trump declared that sealing the border required no new law and announced record-low illegal crossings. Urging lawmakers to increase border security funding for deportations and wall construction, he touted his administration’s “most sweeping border and immigration crackdown in American history.”
“The cartels are waging a war on America, and it’s time for America to wage a war on the cartels, which we are doing,” Trump said.
Trump addressed the economy, claiming his administration inherited an “economic catastrophe” and blaming Biden for soaring egg prices.
“Among my very highest priorities is to rescue the economy and get dramatic and immediate relief to working families,” Trump said. “We inherited an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare from the last administration. Their policies drove up energy prices, pushed grocery costs higher, and put the necessities of life out of reach for many Americans.”
“As president, I am fighting every day to reverse this damage and make America affordable again.”
Trump emphasized that lowering energy costs is key to reducing prices, highlighting his first-day declaration of a national energy emergency to boost oil and gas leases and expand pipeline construction. He pointed to his efforts to build a massive natural gas pipeline in Alaska, noting that nations like Japan and South Korea are eager to invest trillions in the project.
“A major focus of our fight to defeat inflation is rapidly reducing the cost of energy,” he said.
Trump defended his administration’s new tariffs after imposing 25% duties on Mexican and Canadian imports and raising Chinese tariffs to 20%.
Trump claimed tariffs were essential for boosting American manufacturing, arguing the U.S. has been exploited for decades. “It’s a beautiful word, isn’t it?” he said, referring to tariffs, while justifying duties on Mexico and Canada. Acknowledging potential challenges, he added, “There may be a little disturbance, but we’re OK with that.”
“Whenever they tariff us, we tariff them,” Trump declared. “Whatever they tax us, we tax them. If they do non-monetary tariffs to keep us out of their market, then we will do non-monetary barriers to keep them out of our market. We will take in trillions of dollars and create jobs like we have never seen before.”
Trump announced a sweeping effort to cut bureaucracy and “drain the swamp,” vowing to restore democracy by reclaiming power from unelected officials. Citing his “mandate for bold and profound change,” he condemned excessive regulations, accusing bureaucrats of using them to stall his agenda.
“Any federal bureaucrat who resists this change will be removed from office immediately,” Trump declared. “Because we are draining the swamp. It’s very simple. And the days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over.”
Trump reflected on his own survival from an assassination attempt in Butler, PA. “I was saved by God to make America great again,” he declared while paying tribute to Corey Comperatore, a firefighter and veteran who died shielding his wife and daughters from gunfire.
Trump announced that the U.S. has captured “the top terrorist responsible” for the 2021 suicide bombing that killed 13 troops during the Afghanistan withdrawal. While he did not name the individual or detail the circumstances of the arrest, he thanked Pakistan “for helping arrest this monster.”
“The individual is on their way to the United States to face the ‘swift sword of justice,’” he said.
Trump outlined his vision for making America healthy again, addressing rising autism rates in the U.S. and vowing, “We’re going to find out” the cause behind the increase in diagnoses among children. He praised his new Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., stating there is “nobody better” to uncover the truth.
Trump discussed plans to broker peace between Kyiv and Moscow, days after a tense Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He also seeks a deal to develop rare-earth minerals in Ukraine but portrayed himself as a peacemaker. Hours before the speech, Zelensky called their meeting “regrettable” but urged constructive cooperation. Trump said he appreciated the gesture.
Trump reaffirmed his push to acquire Greenland, stating, “We need Greenland for national security and even international security, and we’re working with everybody involved to try and get it. And I think we’re going to get it one way or the other.” He also declared, “My administration will be reclaiming the Panama Canal.”
Earlier in the day, a BlackRock-led consortium agreed to acquire majority stakes in ports at both ends of the Panama Canal from Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison in a $22.8 billion deal, also covering dozens of global ports.
The acquisition places U.S. firms in control of the terminals, which handled 40% of last year’s canal container traffic—an issue flagged by President Trump as a security concern due to their Chinese ties, despite the canal itself being controlled by Panama.
His administration warned China could leverage the ports to restrict American-bound ships.
