(Worthy News) – Authorities are investigating the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, which killed one person and injured seven, as a potential terrorist attack.
Video footage captured the truck spontaneously detonating outside the hotels’s front entrance. Local authorities confirmed that one person inside the truck was killed, according to media reports.
While speaking to the nation, President Joe Biden confirmed that federal authorities were investigating the incident and any possible links to the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Eve.
“[W]e’re tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including whether there’s any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans. Thus far, there’s nothing to report on that score,” he said.
The individual who died was inside the Cybertruck at the time of the incident. Authorities have not yet identified the person or determined their gender, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Officials noted out that the bomb exploded in the Cybertruck’s bed, which helped contain the blast. The tires remained intact without popping or deflating, and the exterior of the truck remained undamaged, with the bed door still attached. The 1.4mm-1.8mm steel exterior, which is twice as thick as that of normal trucks, contributed to this.
