Mozambique: ISIS Slits Throats of Christians, “Ask the Lord to Comfort the Bereaved and Fearful”
by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Islamic State terrorist insurgents in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, brutally murdered four Christians in separate incidents earlier this month, Barnabas Aid reports.
Islamic State Mozambique (IS-M) reported the four murders, all of which took place in the Muidumbe District of Cabo Delgado in early November, Barnabas Aid said.
Two “infidel” Christians were murdered by having their throats slit on Sunday, November 3, Barnabas Aid said. A third Christian was killed in a machine gun attack on November 7, and the fourth was abducted and killed on November 9.
“IS-M has killed thousands of people in northern Mozambique since the beginning of an insurgency in 2017,” Barnabas Aid said in its report. “The terrorist group works closely with Islamic State Central Africa Province (based in north-eastern D.R. Congo), with the activities of both coordinated by an Islamic State command center in Somalia.”
In its report, Barnabas Aid called for prayer: “Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved and fearful. Pray that He will bring an end to the Islamic insurgency in northern Mozambique, for the sake of His children and all the people there who want to live in peace.”
With Islamic insurgent extremism on the rise in the north of the country especially, Mozambique ranks 39 on the Open Doors World Watch List 2024 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
